Purpose of the Position
To provide restorative therapy services for the improvement, or maintenance, of a residents’ physical wellbeing. Improve the quality of life for residents by teaching techniques to cope with limitations, or safety issues, while being a complement to the Trilogy Therapy program.
Responsibilities
· Provides and ensures the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, safety and hygienic needs of assigned residents and assists in ensuring effective and efficient coordination of restorative nursing care activities in accordance with the residents’ care plan.
· Notifies the appropriate personnel of any changes in a resident’s condition so that the information can be updated in the care plan.
· Serves as the restorative department’s representative in assigned neighborhoods. Provides resident care including restorative procedures and activities of daily living.
· Adheres to the Restorative plan of care.
· Provides direction to caregivers to understand the residents’ restorative needs.
· Ensures the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
· Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation. Communicates pertinent resident information and provides confidential updates to the appropriate personnel.
· Participates in the orientation and/or training of new and/or current employees.
· Ensures restorative care treatments are administered according to care plan.
· Adapts a proactive approach to resident care anticipating the resident’s needs.
· Provides assistance with daily life skills such as walking, standing, ambulation, dining and other adls, as needed.
· Leads group exercise classes.
· Ensures good working condition of all restorative equipment.
· Completes required documentation in a timely manner.
· Performs other duties, as needed or assigned.
· Provides residents with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their service plans, involves residents in self care activities. Promotes independence and wellness.
· Assures resident rights are respected and protected.
· Works with team members and other staff members in a helpful, respectful and courteous manner.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of a resident centered model of service delivery Support the mission, vision and values of Friendship Haven.

· Ability to work effectively with co-workers in a team environment.
· Proficiency in writing and communicating with other team members.
· Accountability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
· Ability to deliver excellent customer service and public relations. Ability to be tactful in resolving customer service concerns and situations.
· Ability to be flexible with scheduling and assignments.
· Willingness to train and work in multiple levels of care and regulatory environments.
Minimum Requirements
· Education: Level of education to communicate effectively.
· Licensure: Must be certified nursing assistant and willing to become certified for restorative.
· Experience: Working in aging related environments, direct care, with some housekeeping or dining experience preferred.
Physical Demands
· Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves during work hours.
· Willing to work beyond normal working hours, and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
· Should be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Mental Demands
· Subject to frequent interruptions.
· May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, families and visitors.
