Purpose of the Position

To provide transportation to meet the needs of the various Friendship Haven areas of campus during daily business operations. This position will reasonably meet the transportation needs for individual scheduled appointments and personal requested trips.

Responsibilities

• Follows a daily schedule of appointments made by residents via the Friendship Haven Switchboard and carries it out to meet the resident’s needs.

• Coordinates with designated SHC employees on a weekly basis to ensure an accurate schedule for resident needs.

• Completes errands for all areas of campus, as needed.

• Effectively communicates with residents, co-workers and Supervisors to ensure schedules are accurate for transporting residents.

• Keeps assigned vehicles clean and in good operational condition.

• Completes in-service trainings and on-line learning courses in a timely manner.

• Responsible for keeping an active Chauffeurs license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·        Knowledge of a resident centered model of service delivery Support the mission, vision and values of Friendship Haven.

·        Ability to work effectively with co-workers in a team environment.

·        Proficiency in writing and communicating with other team members.

·        Accountability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

·        Ability to deliver excellent customer service and public relations.  Ability to be tactful in resolving customer service concerns and situations.

·        Ability to be flexible with scheduling and assignments.

Minimum Requirements

·        Education:  Level of education to communicate effectively.   

·        Valid Driver’s License Chauffeurs endorsement. 

·        CNA Certification preferred, but not required.  

·        Working in aging related environments experience preferred, but not required.

·        CPR certification, or the ability to become certified.

Physical Demands

·        Sits, stands, bends, lifts, pushes wheelchairs and moves during work hours.

·        Willing to work beyond normal working hours, and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

Mental Demands

·        Subject to frequent interruptions.

·        May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, families and visitors.
