Schmoker Building Gets New Life
The Schmoker Building, which previously housed our Adult Day program, is getting some new life, and even a new name! The building will now be known as the Tom & Norma Schmoker Center. With a special gift from Tom Schmoker himself, Friendship Haven is able to expand programs, provide more community outreach, and better utilize our spaces.
Construction with Jensen Builders and Bemrich Electric started September 26, 2022 and will conclude before the end of the year.
The updates will only be on the interior of the building. The updates include new flooring, new ceiling, and opening up the layout. With a more open layout, the building will better serve our Rock Steady Boxing program, which has grown lots of interest. Our hope is that with the additional space, we will be able to add more participants from the waiting list to the Rock Steady classes.
The building will also have some more general uses such as staff training and education and community uses.
A rededication of the Tom & Norma Schmoker Center will take place at a later date.
