Offering a Helping Hand
Friendship Haven offers a variety of focuses through our Catalyst program, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. We aim to provide individualized care and improve quality of life to residents living in and around the Fort Dodge community. Our physical therapy team focuses on strength training, balance, coordination, pain management, lymphedema, and vestibular rehabilitation. Relearning and regaining daily living skills are a main objective for our occupational therapy team. They also offer continence training, address shoulder complexities, and complete pressure-mapping via current technology systems. The team utilizes the JoLin Terrace during the warmer months, allowing patients the option to rehabilitate on various surface textures found in everyday life. Additionally, we are the sole provider for warm water aquatic therapy in the Fort Dodge area with both physical and occupational team members being trained to provide therapy in our state-of-the-art indoor pool. Our speech-language pathologist addresses disorders and deficits affecting speech, language, voice, cognition and swallowing. For those seeking therapy for swallowing, our speech-language pathologist is trained to use VitalStim in conjunction with traditional methods, in order to accelerate progress and enhance outcomes.
We at Friendship Haven are proud to help people live full lives with faith, passion and purpose. Our strong commitment for the therapy professions and the work we do permeates into the relationships developed with the individuals we serve. We believe this helps to foster an enjoyable atmosphere while aiming to achieve the best possible results.
We serve residents living on Friendship Haven’s campus as well as other individuals in need of rehabilitation or therapy. For those who desire to come to therapy at Friendship Haven and who live outside of the Simpson Health Center, a referral from your physician is required for physical, occupational or speech services. An additional benefit of participating in the Catalyst program through Friendship Haven is the option for program graduates to take part in our READI (Rehab Exercise Assistance from Discharge to Independence) program. READI offers a supportive, supervised environment to continue their discharge home exercise program with trained staff in our Wellness Center for up to four weeks at no additional charge.
