My “WHY” – Jenna Blomker
My story with Friendship Haven begins eight years ago, before I even moved to the community. I was on my way to an interview and I happened to drive by a beautiful campus called Friendship Haven. I couldn’t tell you what it was, but I was drawn to it. I knew I wanted to see it someday. Years went by, and while working as a hospice nurse I started to visit Friendship Haven. It was like nothing I’d ever experienced. Those who worked here were kind and always helpful; the people living here were happy and proud and thankful to call this wonderful, caring place home.
While walking alongside a Friendship Haven team member as I was leaving one day I said, “This is a beautiful place, wonderful things happen here.” That gentleman said to me, “maybe someday you’ll join us!” Little did I know I would become a Friendship Haven teammate just months later.
I was drawn to the AMAZING care that is given here, unlike any place I have ever visited. Care and compassion is not only given to our residents, but to each other as teammates!
At Friendship Haven we take care of each other. Friendship Haven takes care of all of US! I hope to retire from this wonderful place someday down the road. Heck, I hope to live here myself someday! I love Friendship Haven, all that it stands for, and all within it!
