Service/Amenities
Our lifestyle is built upon a foundation of comprehensive service. We are committed to exceeding your wants or needs by providing the extras — physical, emotional and spiritual — that provide the extra initiative to make every day special. Friendship Haven brings you opportunities like these, included in your monthly service fee:
Physical Environment – Each household of 16 (there’s six total — two on each floor) has its own eat-in kitchen (with a pantry, refrigerator, microwave and oven for those spur-of-the-moment cravings!), living room and spa room.
Resident Room – Each resident room is private with its own bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower! However, the rooms can accommodate two if requested (ex. spouses). The color palette of the resident room is neutral, so you may personalize it to individual taste. Other features include a double door wardrobe, bed, nightstands, bedside tables, chest of drawers, recliner or lift chair and a 32-inch TV with DVD player. The approximate square footage is 160 square feet of living space (not including bathroom square footage).
Other Amenities – In the health center, residents may enjoy these other amenities: beauty shop, restorative therapy gym, family lounges, open concept living/dining, smaller households, easier access to outdoor spaces, in-room temperature control and overall improved heating and air systems.
Catalyst Rehabilitation/ Skilled Nursing (Short Stay) – The Catalyst Rehabilitation Program is Medicare-certified and provides personalized therapy, nursing and wellness services designed to restore individuals to their highest level of functioning so they can return home as soon as possible.
Nursing Care (Extended Care) – An interdisciplinary approach enhances each person’s quality of life, whether following an existing illness, surgery, injury or need for long-term care. We bring together the resident, their family and our staff to provide a home for each individual.
Restorative Nursing – Restorative nursing enhances quality of life and our restorative gym maximizes physical abilities with range of motion. Unique to Simpson Health Center is a dedicated restorative nursing staff with special training and certification by the Arthritis Foundation.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care – We provide a specialized, secure neighborhood for older adults experiencing mid- and late-stage Alzheimer’s and other dementias, enhanced by compassionate, highly trained and supportive caregivers. The Memory Support program and environment are developed to meet the needs of the resident who has been diagnosed with some form of dementia.
Hospice – We work closely with local hospice agencies to provide end-of-life care and support for individuals and their families.
Respite Care – When your regular caregiver is unavailable or a patient requires extra assistance, Friendship Haven can be the helping hand on a short-term basis. We can help for a few days, weeks or months, whatever it takes to help meet your needs.
Aquatic Therapy – We have seen very positive results from water exercise classes and the restorative therapy pool for pain relief and increased movement. The therapy pool is often recommended prior to surgery to increase muscle strength.
Connecting Link – The connecting link will enable, for the first time in Friendship Haven history, the health center to be connected to the rest of the campus. Simpson Health Center residents will have much easier access to all campus amenities, including the wellness center and pool, coffee/gathering areas, the Celebration Center, billiards room, expanded library and computer access.

Don’t take our word for it. Read what people just like you have to say about their Friendship Haven experience. As you’ll discover, it truly is a place where one can live life with faith, passion and purpose.
““People don’t know how hard it is to watch your parent age before your eyes,” said Craig, an Indiana native who came to Fort Dodge in 1980 to play for Iowa Central’s basketball team. “When my mom needed more care, people told me that Friendship Haven was a good place.” Craig was impressed with Friendship Haven’s inviting campus, clean surroundings, and dedicated caregivers.
Craig moved his mother to Friendship Haven seven years ago and regularly stops by Simpson Health Center to visit her. “My mom is a very kind person, and I’m glad that everyone at Friendship Haven takes good care of her. That means a lot.”

““While Jo has dementia, she’s been much more alert lately, and I attribute this to the tender loving care she receives at Friendship Haven,” said Jim, who came to campus nearly every day for two years to visit his wife of 66 years.
