The Update – February 2024 Edition

At the January Town Hall, CEO/President/Head Coach Julie Thorson introduced the 2024 Friendship Haven Rally Cry. The idea behind the theme was inspired by a quote from Irish playwright and critic George Bernard Shaw:

We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

That really resonated with us here at Friendship Haven. We take our work very seriously, but it’s important that we don’t take ourselves too seriously. So we aim to make sure that this will be a year filled with play, laughter, and smiles that make our faces hurt.

Here is to cheek-aching smiles, belly laughs, and optimism in 2024. Let’s play!

Friendship Haven Times – Winter 2023-2024

A smart move. When we tell someone they made a smart move, we are complimenting them on a good decision. It could mean something literal – a physical move from one location to the other. It could mean something metaphorical – a wise choice. This Winter, we’re looking into what smart moves were made by folks here at Friendship Haven.

In this issue, we’ll be hearing about the smart moves of residents and team members. We’ll learn about how making a decision to change careers also changed lives. We’ll hear from folks who said the words so many of our residents say: “I wish I had moved here sooner!” What constitutes a smart move can vary depending on individual circumstances and goals, but we’re here to celebrate them all – even when you’re in the thick of it.
